This ride begins with some stiff climbing that is reasonably technical with its fair share of roots and rocks. The ride takes place in dense hardwood and coniferous forest and in several places, particularly near Black Cap has some good views. At a little after three miles and about seventeen hundred feet gained it all pays off with three miles of twisting downhill. You even get to enjoy downhill grades on the asphalt while coasting back to your car.
